INSPIRATION

A workshop Maastricht linked to its rich history

Maastricht is known for several things. With over 3 million visitors each year, tourism is a major component. Many of these visitors from both home and abroad also take an overnight stay. This makes hotels, restaurants and cafes run well in Maastricht. But would you like to add something more to your program besides a workshop Maastricht? Then be sure to take some time to stroll through the city. Did you know that after Amsterdam, Maastricht has the most national monuments in the Netherlands? Churches, bridges, mansions, castles and of course the oldest city gate in the Netherlands. Maastricht buzzes and is so popular for a reason. The city, region and province is also known for carnival. The annual carnival festival also attracts huge numbers of visitors. Face paint and the most diverse costumes are pulled out of the closet to look as good as possible. Is a previous visit with carnival the reason you choose for a workshop in Maastricht or surroundings? Find a suitable workshop and quickly request more information.

Typical Limburg atmosphere: take it easy, life is busy enough.

A workshop in Maastricht actually feels like you've spontaneously booked a weekend abroad, but without hours in the car or discussions about toll roads. As soon as you walk into town, you immediately understand why people here are so relaxed. Terraces are packed, people take their time for lunch as if they don't have to go anywhere and everywhere there is that typical Limburg atmosphere of: take it easy, life is busy enough already.

That makes Maastricht perfect for workshops. Because honestly: being creative automatically becomes more fun as soon as you combine it with good food, conviviality and a city where "just one more" is practically cultural heritage.

Typical Limburg atmosphere: take it easy, life is busy enough.

The city feels almost Mediterranean.

Creative workshops do incredibly well here. Perhaps it is because of the burgundian atmosphere, but people in Maastricht become remarkably enthusiastic as soon as paint, cocktails or food appear on the table. Everyone starts off serious and focused, but within half an hour it usually turns into complete social chaos where no one remembers exactly what the assignment was originally.
Cocktail workshops, meanwhile, remain an absolute blast. Especially since there is always someone in the group who becomes completely convinced of his hidden bartending talent after two cocktails. Shakers fly enthusiastically through the air, ingredients are combined completely at random and somewhere a drink is guaranteed to emerge that looks like it's glowing in the dark.

The city has something for everyone

Cooking workshops are also almost automatically successful in Maastricht. This city lives for good food. Cooking together usually starts off very culinary, until it turns out that half the group is mainly busy drinking wine while one person sees himself as the new Limburg version of a star chef. What makes Maastricht extra fun for a workshop day is of course the city itself. The Vrijthof remains one of those places where really everyone automatically gets in a good mood. Terraces, lively crowds and historic buildings ensure that even the most unsuccessful group photo still looks atmospheric.

Onze-Lieve-Vrouweplein also remains dangerously cozy. By default, you meet here to "have a drink", but before you know it, three hours later you are still sitting on the same terrace while nobody knows exactly what time it actually got.

You imagine yourself abroad

For groups who want to wander around in between, the small streets of the Jeker Quarter are perfect. Narrow alleys, old buildings and hidden cafes everywhere that you spontaneously want to walk into. Maastricht has a talent anyway for places where you linger longer than planned.

And then of course you have the Maasboulevard. Especially when the weather is nice, the city feels almost Mediterranean there. People stroll along the water, terraces are full and suddenly everyone seems to completely forget that they are actually just in the Netherlands.

Lasting memories

For groups who want to take a break from all the fun during a workshop day, the City Park is ideal. Although relaxing quietly during group outings usually proves impossible as soon as someone starts bringing up old stories that make the group laugh harder and harder.
What makes Maastricht perhaps the most fun is that the city automatically adds atmosphere to everything you do. Even a simple workshop here immediately feels like a complete experience. You walk from creative chaos to a terrace, from terrace to dinner and eventually probably to a wine bar where officially "one more" would be drunk.

And honestly: no one in Maastricht ever seems to be in a hurry to get home. That is precisely what makes the city so dangerously cozy.
A workshop in Maastricht is therefore ultimately not just about being creative. It is about enjoying together, laughing, eating, drinking and witnessing how an ordinary afternoon imperceptibly turns into a complete day full of burgundian conviviality that will be talked about for years to come.
