Organizing a murder dinner in Eindhoven, Veldhoven, Geldrop, Valkenswaard and everything around it always starts out as an innocent plan: a nice dinner out, a bit of laughter, a good time ... and then suddenly someone decides to be murdered. Fictional, of course, but that doesn't stop anyone from diving fully into the role of hysterical detective, dramatic suspect or chaotic supporting actor. In this region, where innovations are born, conviviality is never far away and everyone knows someone who "has never done this before but takes it very seriously", such a murder dinner becomes an evening no algorithm can match. Then the group turns into a charming combination of chaotic detectives, dramatic suspects and people who are mostly surprised to suddenly find themselves in a crime plot. Suspects here are often accompanied by a smile, a look that seems just a little too innocent and sometimes a small sip of wine "for suspense." In Valkenswaard, they solve a murder the way they do everything: cozily, with flair and with a little healthy distrust of everyone at the table. And then there are all the surrounding towns - Waalre, Heeze, Nuenen, Son en Breugel, Best - where a murder dinner always takes on its own character. In Waalre, people proceed methodically as if they were in a board meeting. In Nuenen, every clue is analyzed by a self-proclaimed Van Gogh expert ("The light on this clue is not quite right"). In Son en Breugel it often ends in total merry chaos, but one that everyone loves. And in Best there is always one person who at the beginning says he doesn't understand the game, but in the end unmasks the culprit by sheer accident.
The beauty of a murder dinner in this region is that the Brabant conviviality provides a perfect balance between fanaticism and relaxation. Everyone joins in, everyone suspects everyone else, but no one takes themselves too seriously. There is laughter, tasting, speculation, toasting and occasionally completely wrong guesses. But that doesn't matter at all - it's all about the atmosphere, the food, the humor and the inevitable moments when someone shouts, "I knew it! Well ... almost then." No matter how the evening ends, one thing is certain: in Eindhoven, Veldhoven, Geldrop, Valkenswaard and the entire surrounding area, a murder dinner always becomes a story that will be told for weeks to come.
