Organizing a murder dinner in Rotterdam, Schiedam, Vlaardingen and everything in between is an experience that starts as a cozy dinner and ends as something that most resembles a cross between CSI, The Marathon and a neighborhood BBQ where everyone joins in a little too much. You may think the biggest challenge is getting everyone to the location on time, but once the fictional murder takes place, you discover that the real challenge lies in distinguishing between serious sleuths, overzealous actors and people who lie suspiciously obviously. In Rotterdam, a murder dinner always gets that wonderful straight-forward feel. While outside the skyline gleams and someone three blocks away shouts with great conviction "don't bullshit but clean up," inside the restaurant a murder case suddenly erupts. Rotterdammers react as they react to everything: sober, slightly irritated and surprisingly efficient. No one panics, but they do suddenly become suspiciously interested in exactly where everyone was when the victim took his last bite. Within five minutes, someone has a theory that makes complete sense, someone else has a theory that is not supported by any logic, and yet another has an alibi that is so bad it almost becomes brilliant.
